I've always wondered what was so good about good Friday.

To date no one has been able to explain to my satisfaction just why the bottle shops are shut for one example.  

So this is my attempt at nutting out just what is so good about good Friday.

Convicted Child Sex Offender George Pell

Cardinal George Pell, Australia’s highest-ranking Catholic, has been found guilty of sexually abusing two 13-year-old choirboys 22 years ago. 

The abuse took place at St Patrick’s Cathedral in East Melbourne, when Pell was the Archbishop of Melbourne and was leading the Melbourne Response, a compensation scheme for victims of paedophile priests
Here is a timeline of his career, the police investigation and his court trials.

His career:

June 8, 1941 Cardinal George Pell was born in Ballarat - Trinity Sunday. His father, George senior, was a gold miner and his mother a devout Irish Catholic. Pell was raised in the Ballarat home built by his maternal grandfather. He rose to become the Archbishop in both Melbourne and Sydney, before going on to Rome where he became one of Pope Francis’ most trusted advisors in the Vatican. Pell was educated at St Patrick's College in Ballarat and Corpus Christi College in Werribee, before studying at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. He has a PhD in church history from Oxford University and a masters in education from Monash University.

1966 Ordained a priest for the Ballarat diocese in St Peter's Basilica.

1971 Assistant Priest at Swan Hill.

1973-1983 Assistant Priest at Ballarat East parish.

1978-1979 Episcopal Vicar for Education in the Ballarat diocese.

1987 Auxiliary Bishop of Melbourne.

1993 Pell walks priest Gerald Ridsdale to court in Melbourne. Ridsdale is later convicted of a string of serious child sex abuse charges and becomes known as one of Australia’s most notorious paedophile priests.

1996 Appointed Archbishop of Melbourne.

2001 Appointed Archbishop of Sydney, the Australian Catholic church's most senior position.

2003 Appointed by Pope John Paul II to the Sacred College of Cardinals.

2014 Appointed to be the first prefect of the church’s Secretariat for the Economy - in effect the Vatican’s treasurer. He is welcomed into the Pope’s inner circle of trusted advisors known as the Group of Nine, or C-9.

The investigation

2015 A man in his 30s contacts police to report he was sexually abused by Pell in the 1990s as a choirboy, at St Patrick’s Cathedral. He also reports that his friend, who died in accidental circumstances as an adult, was also sexually assaulted by Pell.

February 20, 2016 It's revealed that a Victoria Police taskforce has been ­investigating historical sexual abuse allegations against Cardinal Pell.

February 28, 2016 Giving evidence in Rome to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, Cardinal Pell admits to "catastrophic failures" by the Catholic Church in relation to child sexual abuse, an issue he says was on his radar from the early 1970s.

July 27, 2016 The ABC's 7.30 program details complaints against Cardinal Pell being investigated by Victoria Police.

October 2016 Victorian detectives travel to Rome to meet Cardinal Pell, who voluntarily participates in an interview. He emphatically denies the allegations when they are put to him.

February 2017 A police brief of evidence regarding sex assault allegations against Cardinal Pell is handed to prosecutors for review.

May 13, 2017 ABC journalist Louise Milligan's book Cardinal: The Rise And Fall of George Pell is published. The book contains new allegations of sexual abuse against Cardinal Pell.

May 14, 2017 Cardinal Pell's lawyers strongly deny the allegations raised in the book.

May 16, 2017 Victoria Police receives advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions about the brief of evidence. Police refuse to comment.

May 18, 2017 Cardinal Pell restates his innocence in Rome, saying: "We have to respect due process, wait until it is concluded and obviously I will continue to co-operate fully."
May 25, 2017 Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton says a decision about charging Cardinal Pell is "imminent".

June 29, 2017 Victoria Police announces the cardinal will be charged on summons in relation to "multiple" offences. In Rome, Cardinal Pell denies the allegations and says: "I'm looking forward, finally, to having my day in court." He returns to Australia in following days.

July 26, 2017 Cardinal Pell faces Melbourne Magistrates Court, where his lawyer Robert Richter, QC, says his client intends to plead not guilty to all charges.

March 1, 2018 Prosecutors announce they will withdraw one of the charges because one of the accusers has died.
March 5, 2018 Pell faces Melbourne Magistrates Court for a committal hearing, which determines whether he is to face trial.

May 1, 2018 Magistrate Belinda Wallington commits Pell to trial on multiple charges of historic sexual assault involving multiple accusers. She strikes out other charges. Pell pleads not guilty.

August 15, 2018 Pell's first trial starts in the County Court, on allegations he sexually abused two 13-year-old choirboys in the 1990s as Archbishop of Melbourne. Pell pleads not guilty to five charges.

September 20, 2018 The jury is discharged after it is unable to reach a verdict after five days of deliberations.

November 7, 2018 A retrial begins on the same allegations. Pell pleads not guilty to five charges.

December 11, 2018 Pell is found guilty of five charges of sexual assault. Chief Judge Peter Kidd grants bail for Pell to return to court in February 2019 for a pre-sentence hearing but advises him he will be remanded in custody after that hearing.

Even by the standards of the bat shit crazy things that Catholics believe, this one would no doubt prove difficult for anyone with barely even the most rudimentary knowledge of the history of the last two thousand years to fathom.

Harder even to swallow I imagine than some of the delights George Pell himself has offered up for consumption to the gullible over the years (and I am not just referring to the ones from the pulpit either).

How I wonder, has it taken so long to bring just this one (alleged) kiddy fiddling f#cker before the courts when this international criminal organisation (read: The Roman Catholic Church) and the appalling, reprobate, misogynistic, homophobic and thoroughly corrupt gerontocracy that is it's leadership has so consistently and systematically produced, protected and promoted  so many candidates for prosecution across so many generations?

In this instance, truth is not only stranger than fiction, but also even harder to believe!

Pope Francis To Call The International Space Station

In just under 30 minutes time at precisely midnight tonight, 26 October 2017 Pope Francis will place a call to the crew aboard the International Space Station.

Firstly however, a sinscere commitment to my readership: I will refrain from writing in a cynical manner. I will focus solely on the facts associated with this event. I will resist the temptation of including statements such as "Big Bloody Deal!" and "Who Cares A Tinker's Cus?" (as I have demonstrated by the absence of words even remotely similar in this post's title. Neither shall I make reference to a previous post (Hysterical Virgins Who Can't Keep Their Hands Off Of Our Children) or claims therein regarding the Catholic Church being an international criminal organisation protecting paedophiles, money launderers and drug traffickers. Nor shall I decry it's leadership as being a morally bankrupt, misogynistic and homophobic gerontocracy that is more the lover of poverty than of the poor.

This is not the first time that a pope has placed a call to the heavens in the only verifiable way available.

The former pontiff, Pope Benedict XVI (a.k.a. "The Panzer Cardinal") made the first call from the Vatican to the ISS in May of 2011 (before resigning later that year in what would have been a disgrace had the circumstances been made officially public). On that occasion the ISS was full to the brim with Astronauts and Cosmonauts (12 in total) as the Shuttle Endeavour STS was dropping off some the straggler crew members of Expedition 27 and 3 months worth of frozen TV dinners.

On that occasion the pope read from a pre-prepared 6 minutes statement, somewhat stiffly in english to the assembled crews and steered clear of any controversial subject matter (including his membership of the Hitler Youth and subsequent service in the Luftwaffe), sticking to topics that could be best categorised as small talk consisting primarily of bleedingly obvious observations and assorted statements around the central theme of what a great view you must all have up there.

Pope Francis will speak with European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Paolo Nespoli and three NASA astronauts: Randy Bresnik, Mark Vande Hei and Joe Acaba. As this Pope is renown for having a less militaristic formal disposition than his predecessor, Frank (as His Holiness is known around Rome after hours) is expected to be greatly more relaxed in his discourse with the all male selection of crew members on the receiving end of his jollity. Further adding to the anticipated relaxed nature of the call, this Pope is by comparison a man of science, admitting the veracity of the theory of evolution, accepting the big bang theory as being the best explanation for the cosmos that we currently have and even a publicly stated position supporting Pope John Paul II's shocking 1992 concession that the Church had "erred" 359 years previously in condemning Galileo Galilei' for his assertion that the Earth revolved around the Sun as being patently untrue and sentencing him to house arrest for the remaining 11 years of his life. Better late than never as Frank says.

There is a slim possibility that the female member of the crew and the Russian orthodox Cosmonauts aboard could float by provided the completion of station keeping duties permit however in reality this is not likely.

Hysterical Virgins Who Can't Keep Their Hands Off of Our Children

By the Catholic Church's own estimates 1 in 7 Australian priests have sexually interfered with, and or eventually raped a child under their pastoral care

Priests however, don't go to gaol under a custodial sentence like the stamp collectors mentioned above and other sub-human, kiddy-fiddling, reprobate-vermin do when caught sexually interfering with our children.

Instead, these self righteous, sociopathic, maniacally sick and manipulative Shamen of Christ (who - assuming he ever lived in the first place - is dead despite their protestations to the contrary), these SOB's are sent with barely a slap on the wrist, onto their next parish (preferable on the other side of the country) and proceed to sexualy interfere and eventually rape anyone that they feel they can without being caught until they've been through every eligible catholic teenager in town.

Though to be fair, unlike communion or marriage or even salvation itself there's no discrimination against you for being protestant. Fear not you won't miss out on what passes in the Catholic Church for pastoral care and acceptable conduct so long as you are homeless, intellectually disabled, in a permanent coma or in any other way vulnerable (that's the standard english spelling of the word by the way, the Roman spelling of the word is "available").

These creatures are left in place until they're satisfied they've been through everyone "worthwhile" in town and move themselves along or their disgusting treachery comes to the attention of parishioners, medical staff at the local hospital or even the coroner in far too many cases.

Speaking of intellectually disabled, self aggrandising, reprobate bastards in stupid hats, enter the local Bishop. He not only get's to look the other way and ship the priest to fresh pastures and a fresh flock to fock) but also gets to deny everything while enjoying immunity from criminal charges for his criminal behaviour from behind the safety of the state sanctioned protection of the sanctity of the confessional.

Their religion and religious beliefs are nothing save a facade to cover for their sexual perversion, the illegal acts they commit with impunity, their conspiracy to hinder and pervert the course of justice, to prevent prosecution or recourse and a tool by which to keep the needy and vulnerable dependant, the poor impoverished and their innumerable crimes against those who unquestionably trusted them denied and undocumented.

Never has it been explained to my satisfaction why we grant the Catholic Church tax exempt status. I have not heard a sound justification for why, knowing what we know, we would pay scarce public funds to it's religious orders to execute the truly sacred trust of educating our children.

No one can explain to me why we do not treat the church for what it has time and again proven itself to be, that is an international criminal organisation that considers it acceptable to break state, federal and international laws when ever it suits its purposes. An organisation whose administrative apparatus is purpose built to ensure secrecy and conformity and conspires to effectively stop the normal execution of the course of justice in it's tracks.

An organisation which harbours money launderers and protects paedophiles.

Why is it I ask that it's leaders are not held to account, charged and imprisoned as the leaders of any other organisation are held accountable for their conduct and the conduct of those under their authority?

Any attempt to answer these questions without reference to the "religion" they have invented and propagated falls flat on its face and fails. It all comes back to the one and only argument they can offer to excuse this scandalous and shameful behaviour: their utterly ridiculous cult of human sacrifice parading as a respectable religion.

Without their big lie, they are nothing but pathetic little men and criminals. Their religion is nought but a thin veneer of respectability to front a multitude of genuinely shameful deeds.
